Buildsoft Global:
Buildsoft Global has been the leading estimating program for 30 years with thousands of users working in commercial, industrial and housing sectors of the building and construction industry. Not only is the product a Bill of Quantity software product; it produces Bills of Quantities, detailed Estimates and Cost Plans. Designed primarily for use by commercial building contractors and professional Quantity Surveyors it includes features which allow it to be used in other industries where estimating is required.
Information that is entered into the program can be re-sorted or analysed by the use of powerful grouping columns. For example, the estimate can be summarised to produce totals by area, block, stage, cost centre, accounting group, or any user defined set of codes.
Subcontractors Comparison:
At different times during the tender process, time is often spent in refining the rates used to improve the estimate total. Further, some of the tasks within the tender are subcontracted to outside companies. The subcontractor’s comparison module is an ideal tool to assist with both of these tasks. Portions of the estimate can be sent out to potential subcontractors, including information such as bill reference, item description, estimate quantity and an empty rate column.
Along with the original estimates quantities and rates, the user has the ability to reduce the overall cost of a group of items by comparing each subcontractor’s rates. Even though some subcontractors will not provide prices for all of the items within a group, the user can enter what information is available and then select one or more subcontractors to provide those items where their rates are more competitive. At the end of this process, a revised estimate total is available. The difference between each original group total and the revised group total is displayed in either a column headed “Add” or “Omit” accordingly. Management can finally review this process in case an alternate subcontractor is preferred for a group of items, and the impact of any change is reflected.
